A Small-Group Northern Lights Evening in Rovaniemi

Vulpes Aurora takes a maximum of 6–8 guests out from Rovaniemi each night, in a warm, curtained Mercedes van, for about 5 hours built around comfort, story, and stillness — not a race across Lapland chasing a light that might not come. From €219 per person.

The Core Promise

Most Northern Lights tours in Rovaniemi are built around one number: your odds of seeing the aurora tonight. We built this one around something we can actually promise instead — a genuinely comfortable, well-hosted evening in the Arctic dark, worth your time on its own. The aurora, if it comes, is the reward on top of that. Not the whole reason to come.

How the Evening Unfolds

Here is exactly what an evening with us looks like, start to finish.

01We collect you in comfort

You're picked up from your hotel or a central Rovaniemi meeting point in a genuinely comfortable Mercedes van — not just marketed as spacious, but built for it. Curtains on every window protect your night vision from the start, and a Webasto heater keeps the cabin warm without the engine running, so the quiet begins the moment you sit down.

02The story begins on the road

The drive itself is part of the evening, not dead time before it. Your guide shares the science of the aurora, Finnish mythology around the northern lights, and the history of the region — including one story we'll let you discover in person rather than spoil here.

03Arriving at a place made for staying

Rather than driving for hours across hundreds of kilometers, we take you to a carefully chosen location and stay there — with proper outdoor seating, reindeer hides, and warm drinks and Finnish snacks ready as soon as you step out. It's built to be comfortable enough that you'd be glad to be there even on a night the sky stays quiet.

04A shared moment of silence

At some point in the evening, your guide invites everyone to be quiet together — not just background quiet, but a specific, shared moment of it. Human eyes take 20 to 30 minutes to fully adapt to the dark, and any bright light resets that adjustment, which is part of why phones stay away. It turns a simple request into something you can feel happening to your own eyes.

05Real photographs of your evening

Professional photography is included throughout, so you leave with real images — of the aurora if it appears, and of the evening itself either way.

06A keepsake that isn't a certificate

Before the drive back, you'll receive a Polaroid and a small reflective card — not a generic "crossed the Arctic Circle" certificate, but something meant to bring you back to how the evening actually felt.

What's Always Included

What happens if the aurora doesn't appear?

Even people who live here see a full, sky-filling aurora only a few times in their lives, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can promise is a comfortable, well-hosted evening in the Arctic night — one built to be worth your time regardless of what the sky does. If the aurora appears, it's a genuine bonus. If it doesn't, you'll still have had a proper evening, not a consolation prize.

Everyone Has a Place With Us

All of our vans are wheelchair-accessible by design, not as an afterthought — something surprisingly rare in Rovaniemi's aurora tourism. One parent stays with children at all times, and younger guests get tablets, a coloring book, and their own turn at the telescope.

Reserve Your Evening

From €219 to €349 per person, depending on the date — small enough groups that it never feels like a shuttle bus, priced to match genuine delivery rather than a marketing number. 8 spots per departure, and we don't sell past that.
