About Vulpes Aurora

Vulpes Aurora is a new name, but not a new story. Our family has been helping travelers discover Lapland for generations. That is decades of tourism transport and travel services, and a fleet that has grown to almost 70 vehicles for journeys of every kind.

This year, we brought that experience into something new: small-group Northern Lights tours in Rovaniemi and Kemi, thoughtfully designed for families, wheelchair users, and anyone looking for a quieter, more personal way to experience the Arctic night.

Everything we do is shaped by that experience. This is what we believe in, and what we promise you.

Why a Fox?

Ever wondered why a fox represents Vulpes Aurora?

Vulpes is the Latin word for fox, and in Finnish the Northern Lights are called revontulet, “fox fires”. Once we arrive at the spot, your guide tells the old story behind that name: a fox sweeping its tail across the snow and sending sparks into the night sky, and how that image runs through both the science and the folklore we tell throughout the evening. The rest, we’ll save for the night itself.

Why We Exist

We exist because the Northern Lights are unpredictable, but a meaningful evening never has to be. We replace anxiety with curiosity, waiting with presence, and expectations with genuine connection.

What We Believe

The aurora is a gift, never a guarantee.

Stillness is one of the Arctic’s greatest luxuries.

Comfort allows people to truly enjoy the night.

Stories belong to the landscape as much as forests and snow.

Every guest deserves to feel welcome, regardless of age or mobility.

The Arctic isn’t something to chase.
It is something to experience.

What We Offer

We offer evenings designed with intention.

Warmth, knowledge, silence, and presence.

A place to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel the world soften.

We offer comfort that removes the pain points of travel:
proper clothing, warm seating, thoughtful food,
a guide who hosts rather than hurries,
and a van that feels like a moving lounge.

How We Host

We host with honesty.

We tell the truth about the aurora:
even locals see its full spectacle only a few times in their lives.

We host with care.

Families, children, elders, wheelchair users:
everyone has a place with us.

We host with knowledge.

Our guides are local Finns: storytellers, teachers, and companions.

They carry the warmth of Lapland in their voice
and the science of the sky in their mind.

Each of them holds a professional driver’s license
and has learned the history of Lapland from local books and materials,
not from the internet.

We host with presence.

We create moments of silence,
moments of wonder,
moments of connection.

We host with respect
for the land, for the culture, for the night.

What Our Guests Take Home

They take home stories.

They take home knowledge.

They take home curiosity.

They take home a Polaroid and a memory of stillness.

They take home a feeling:
the feeling of being cared for,
the feeling of being part of the Arctic night,
the feeling of having chosen the right place to spend their time.

And sometimes,
the sky rewards them with the aurora itself.

Our Promise

We do not sell.
We offer.

We do not promise.
We show.

We do not chase.
We guide.

We don’t create the Northern Lights.
We create an evening worth remembering.

Our Identity

Calm. Warm. Honest. Thoughtful. Welcoming.
Human before anything else.

This is Lapland as it actually is, not the cliché.

Our Invitation

Come spend an evening with us.

Let the Arctic night unfold gently.

Let the stories stay with you.

Let the silence hold you.

Let the sky do what it will.

You are welcome here.

With or without the lights.

Curious what an evening with us actually looks like?
